The story of the Taxi man tells the story of a father, a taxi driver and a family man. Who drives his cab for a living. It tells the story of him driving a passenger and telling her stories about his life. He tells a story about how he became a cab driver, how things have changed over the years, and how hard life has become. How he struggles every day to keep his family sustained, all of this hard work of his paid off when some of his children managed to finish their studies and became professionals. Except for one, who is still currently studying, her youngest daughter. Whom he was so proud of, with her being a part of the achievers of her school. His boasting soon turned into ramblings, when he remembered the kind of youth that is around the society nowadays. He was angry at how the young people of today would choose to sell their dignity to foreigners, especially the Westerners. He would see these young girls meeting up with foreigners, mostly those who are aged. Where they would go to hotels and do inappropriate stuff just for money, in order for them to satisfy their wants. The material things such as designer brand bags, phones, and other luxury items could be bought just by selling their bodies to the Westerners.
The taxi driver then goes back to tell the story of his brilliant daughter, whom he recently found out that she was not what he thought she would be. It was during one day, where he was making rounds on his usual route that he saw his daughter together with her friends. In which, they went into an establishment to meet up with some foreigners, it enraged the taxi driver and he went after his daughter. He dragged her out of there and humiliated her in public, he then drove her home and proceeded to beat her there and locked her up. He told the passenger that it was him being disappointed and to discipline his disobedient daughter who brought him shame, by doing the thing that he hated most out of the youth today. He was clearly disappointed and felt betrayed by his daughter, whom he had high hopes with and whom he trusted. The taxi driver then drops off his passenger and is seemingly in a hurry to pick-up his booked passengers who are students with their foreign boyfriends.
To answer the question, ''What do you think of the taximan's do you sympathize with him explain?
The taxi man is clearly a hypocrite and I feel no sympathy for such a man. The taxi man was complaining about teenagers, especially the young women, getting their money from foreigners by selling their bodies to them. Yet, he encourages those acts and benefits from it, by giving them a ride and driving them to their destination. Without even giving them a word for it nor confronting them about it. He just receives the money and enjoys it, he enjoys what he hates and he benefits from it because they pay him big and never even asks him for a change. Making him the biggest hypocrite and the truly wrong person in the story.
